Technical Problems
-
The game is sometimes very slow and unresponsive, with server errors and disconnects. Why?
When a lot of users play at the same time, our servers sometimes become overloaded. We are continuously working on improving our server performance and stability, but at peak hours many users unfortunately still experience lag and disconnects. You can find some more information about the cause of the problem in this blog post: Quiz Battle Server Issues.
-
QUIZ BATTLE: I don’t have a username, how can I get one?
We have a bug causing a small number of users to not be able to set their username when creating an account. It’s still possible to play, and invite other users, but your own username will show up blank. We are searching for the cause of the bug, and will contact all affected users as soon as we have a solution. We’ve very sorry for the trouble!
-
ANDROID: I get frequent crashes and game locks?
The Android version still contains a number of crash bugs affecting some devices more than others. We’re working on improving the stability and will release new updates continuously

Usually we find the problem and have everything up and running within a few hours, but sometimes the problem is more severe and takes longer to fix. Please feel free to report to us on Twitter @quizboard when you see this error. You can also follow @quizboard to see when the servers are up again. We deeply apologize for the inconvenience this causes, and we’re continously working to make our servers more reliable.

If this happens, make sure that your device is signed in with the same AppleID or Google Play account as the one you used when you made the initial purchase. Sign in to the game and enter the settings menu, scroll down in the settings menu and click “Restore Previous Upgrade”. This will now hopefully restore your premium status in the game, but if it doesn’t please email us at contact@quizboard.com
Gameplay Questions
-
How do I find an opponent?
When you first login to Quizboard, you will see a green area at the center of the screen with a ‘Start a new game’ button. Pressing this button will give you different options on how to find an opponent. Clicking ‘Random Opponent’ is the fastest way to find someone to play against.
-
How do I play against a friend?
Click ‘Start a new game’ to get into the Select Opponent menu. If you know the username of your friend you can do a ‘Search by username’, otherwise you can select ‘Invite Contact’ to invite someone from your contacts list, or select ‘Invite Facebook Friend’ to invite from your friends list.
If your friend is already a Quizboard player, you will be free to pick a game board and send an invite. If they are not already players, picking a contact will send an email with instructions on how to install Quizboard, while picking a Facebook friend will let you post a message to their Facebook Wall.
-
I’m getting too easy/hard questions, how is the difficulty of the questions chosen?
Quizboard attempts to enhance your experience by choosing questions suited specifically for you. For instance, if you answer questions extraordinarily well, the game will try to challenge you by picking harder questions. And if you answer too many questions incorrectly, the game will try to give you slightly easier questions.
-
I’m getting repeat questions, why?
At Planeto we want to spread knowledge while entertaining people. If you have answered a question incorrectly, you will get another chance at it later, giving you the opportunity to learn something. Also, while we do have many thousands of questions (and always adding more), they aren’t limitless. If you are a diligent player you might exhaust our stock of questions.
-
How are the points calculated when I answer a question correctly?
A correct question awards the player a base score of 100 points. Additional points are given based on the player’s streak and if the question was placed on a bonus square with the correct color. The bonus from a streak is further increased if the streak is achieved using the same category (color) of questions. In short: the more questions you answer correctly in a row, the higher score you get.
-
What do the different colored tiles mean?
All questions in Quizboard are divided up into six different categories: Entertainment (pink), Science & Nature (green), Geography (blue), History (yellow), Sports & Leisure (orange), and Arts & Literature (brown). Playing a question on a correspondingly color-coded square on the game board will give you bonus points if you answer it correctly.
-
Some questions are incorrect or badly written, can I report that somewhere?
When in the game, pull down the top menu and choose Report question and pick the recent question that you want to report.
-
Why can I not swap more than 5 questions at a time?
When you swap questions, the game gives you new questions of a different category than that of the questions you swapped. Since there are six categories, this can only be guaranteed if you only swap five or less.
-
How do I get more score?
Quizboard is as much about tactics as it is about questions. Navigating the board to your advantage is vital to beating your opponent. Try to reach bonus squares and prevent the other player from doing the same. Also, try to predict which category of questions you should save based on where different bonus squares are on the map.
-
When does a game end?
The game ends when either of the players reaches a Star on the game board. The winner is whoever has the most points when this happens.
-
Why is Quizboard sometimes slow or unresponsive?
Quizboard has to communicate with our game servers over the internet. At times our servers can be overloaded, or your mobile device might have a poor connection, which can cause delays or disconnects.
-
It says my username has already been taken when I try to log in, what gives?
If you are using a new mobile device, we require a password to make sure someone else isn’t trying to steal your account. This is why it is recommended to set a password and an email for your account in the Settings view.
-
How do I set a password?
When viewing the list of your games, there is a small button in the top left corner which resembles a cog wheel. This button shows your Settings page where you can set a password for your account.
-
How do I change my picture?
When viewing the list of your games, there is a small button in the top left corner which resembles a cog wheel. This button shows your Settings page where you can for instance change your picture, email or even upgrade to premium.
